Hybrid Solar Systems

Grid-connected with battery backup — cost optimization by day, uninterrupted power during outages, and full ROI over the system lifetime.

Hybrid solar system with grid and battery backup

About this system

A hybrid system combines solar, battery storage, and the utility grid using a single intelligent hybrid inverter. Solar powers your loads first, surplus charges the battery, and any remaining excess is exported to the grid for net-metering credit. When the grid fails, the inverter instantly switches to battery — your essential loads keep running without a diesel generator.

Best use cases

  • Homes in areas with frequent power cuts
  • Villas and farmhouses needing 24×7 backup
  • Clinics, small hospitals, and diagnostic centres
  • IT offices, co-working spaces, and data rooms
  • Retail stores that cannot afford downtime

Domestic

Family home with rooftop solar, battery backup and EV charging

Isometric 3D render of a hybrid solar home with rooftop panels, EV charger, inverter, battery and net meter
Grid: Exporting
Battery: Charging
Meter: Export

Solar covers the home load, charges the battery and simultaneously exports surplus for net-metering credit.

Commercial — hospital

Life-critical loads that cannot afford a second of downtime

Isometric 3D render of a hybrid solar hospital with rooftop panels, ambulance bay, industrial inverter and battery bank
Grid: Exporting
Battery: Charging
Meter: Export

Solar powers the hospital, charges the battery and exports surplus — every daytime unit displaces peak-tariff grid consumption.

Requirements for this solution

  • Shadow-free roof area for the panels
  • Space for wall-mounted or floor-mounted battery
  • Existing grid connection (feasibility for net meter)
  • Clear list of essential loads to be backed up
  • Sanctioned load compatible with hybrid inverter rating

Key benefits

  • Seamless backup — no diesel generator needed
  • Time-of-day optimisation of grid vs battery vs solar
  • Net-metering credit on any surplus export
  • Peace of mind during long outages
  • Future-ready — EV charging & smart-home compatible

Indian Government subsidy applicability

Hybrid residential systems can avail PM Surya Ghar CFA on the solar (grid-tied) portion — up to ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above. Battery storage is generally not covered by central subsidy, but a few states offer top-up incentives. Commercial hybrids benefit from 40% accelerated depreciation on the full asset.

Subsidy amounts and eligibility depend on MNRE and state DISCOM guidelines and are revised from time to time. AGSM Solar handles the full paperwork on your behalf.
